Converted Mill
This is a unique and beautiful place to stay. The mill itself is beautiful – even better than the pictures. The surroundings are picturesque, the interior warm, welcoming and tastefully decorated. The ‘welcome’ beers were a nice touch.
We wouldn’t want to miss out the important bits by failing to tell you that this mill is in Tietjerk, The Netherlands. This alternative break to the bustling streets of Amsterdam is out in the country, back to nature, and as interesting as sleeping in a 120-year-old mill should be. The Mill is named De Swarte Prinsch and it is an authentic polder mill in a nature reserve. We didn’t even know what Polder was. We had to look it up.

The Old Mill is in the countryside but approximate to the beach. There is a nearby golf course and a mini golf course. There is a swimming pool and an animal park, as well as shopping in Leeuwarden, about fifteen minutes away. You are inside a National Park in this location, with access to beach, sea, river, and field. The country feel is only made better with the country views. It’s a very cool place to unwind, relax, and not be off-grid even although you feel like you are.
